CHANDAN GOSWAMI

Founder and Director

Chandan Goswami is the 14th guru in the ancient Shri Radharaman Temple lineage of Vrindavan. He is also a prolific author and public speaker, who was recently honoured as an Ambassador of Peace by UPF. With an upbringing deeply rooted in the belief that every life matters, he developed a strong desire to serve the neglected street animals in this world. The priority was to address the plight of the animals in his country of origin, India, and in 2019, Chandan Goswami founded Braj Animal Care in his hometown. Serving as BAC’s Director and mentor, his unparalleled guidance helps our dedicated team maintain the highest level of love and care in our efforts.

Vishakha.jpg

VISHAKHA RAMOS

Field Operations and Volunteer Programme Coordinator

Vishakha is a writer and a teacher of English as a foreign language. She also serves as a caregiver for the elderly, and she holds a certification in Animal First Aid from the American Red Cross. One of Vishakha’s first animal friends was a massive snapping turtle which, at around seven years old, she caught in a bucket and placed lovingly in her sandbox – much to the frustration of her grandmother. Since then, animals have remained a big part of her life, from fluffy ones like cats and dogs, to creepy-crawlies like snakes, frogs and crayfish. Braj Animal Care is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream for Vishakha, and she hopes to inspire more and more animal lovers to join the mission.

Abhijeet.jpg

Field Operations Manager

Abhijeet is Braj Animal Care’s full-time team leader, and he oversees the Rapid Response Team and the morning feeding crew. At just 26 years of age, he has already dedicated his life to the service of others. He spent much of his young adulthood caring for an elderly relative who was handicapped, and this experience has given him the chance to become an excellent cook! Despite offers to work in bigger cities, Abhijeet’s deep fondness for Vrindavan always keeps him from leaving. He strongly believes that everyone deserves the greatest level love and care, regardless of race, caste, creed or even species!

Gaurhari Bhaiyya.jpg

HARIVALLABH “GAURHARI” KAUSHIK

Dispatch Specialist

Gaurhari is one of Braj Animal Care’s Rapid Response team leaders, and a computer specialist by trade. Despite his fulltime job at a bank, he spends many mornings up with our animal feeding team before dawn, ready to help in any way he can. He has a special love for the street animals, because they need our help the most. He hopes to be able to serve them for the rest of his life.

Vrajanand Anuragi

Animal Care Team Member

Vrajanand Anuragi was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Whilst living in Mumbai, he found that many people would abandon their pet dogs in the forest near his home. These abandoned dogs would often come to him for comfort. Once, Vrajanand personally witnessed his neighbour dumping their pet dog of 12 years in the forest. The dog was very ill, and his owners were unable or unwilling to care for him. When the dog realised his trusted owner was really leaving him forever, he started crying in desperation. It was then that Vrajanand realised how deeply animals feel emotions. Later, he moved to Vrindavan where he lived as a monk for three years. Now he serves full time with Braj Animal Care. In his spare time, Vrajanand enjoys reading and writing about Shri Krishn’s lilas, and feeding the peacocks outside his home in Baelvan.

Gopali Anuragini

Animal Feeding and Guest Services Specialist

Gopali Anuragini is a translator from Argentina who has travelled across South America, translating her Gurudev’s Kathas. She currently lives in Vrindavan, studying Sanskrit and volunteering long-term with Braj Animal Care. Since childhood, Gopali has had a deep love for animals, especially cats.

When she was 19, Gopali found five kittens in a garbage bag near her home. She and her mother took the kittens to the animal hospital, brought them home and tried to nurse them back to health, but unfortunately, they didn’t survive. This experience made Gopali realize how many people don’t understand that animals have value and feel emotions just like humans do.

After a long day of serving the animals, Gopali loves to spend time drawing and painting as it helps her relax and express her thoughts and emotions artistically.

Brajgopal Chakraborty

Digital Media Specialist and Animal Care Team Lead

Brajgopal Chakraborty has been with Braj Animal Care since the very beginning.

He is very caring and a talented photographer. After leaving BAC for a few years to pursue explore other opportunities, he came back with deepened experience in videography and social media.

Brajgopal’s favourite case was one where the team saved a peacock from being attacked by monkeys. It was such a beautiful experience getting to hold the peacock and help relocate it to the government peacock sanctuary.
